Lost and found

What should you do if you find something in the street or on the train? What happens if you have lost one of your belongings, such as your passport or your purse? Please go to the town hall of the municipality in which you found or lost the item, or refer to www.verlorenofgevonden.nl or www.ilost.co. You cannot go to the police for lost and found items. If you have lost one of your belongings, it is not possible to file a report.

I found something. Where can I hand it in?

All items found should be handed in at the municipality. On the internet, you can find out where the nearest municipal office is located. 
You can also report online that you found something. To do this, please visit www.verlorenofgevonden.nl or www.ilost.co.  

Did you find something while travelling on public transport? Go to www.ilost.co. 
If you are on holiday in the Netherlands, it is recommended you hand in the item at the nearest municipal office. 

I lost something. Where can I check if it was found?

On www.verlorenofgevonden.nl or www.ilost.co it is possible to search for your lost belonging online.

I lost my passport. What should I do?

If you’ve lost your passport or other identification document, your first step should be to check if it was handed in at the Lost and Found office of the municipality.
Do you need an emergency document? Go to the embassy or consulate of your home country. You can find the addresses on the internet, most can be found in The Hague.
