My data was for sale on Genesis Market. What can I do?

In collaboration with Trellix and Computest, the police we have ensured that the malware can be detected by all virus scanners. By also working with Microsoft, a software update has been made so that Windows Defender can remove the malicious software from the computer. To safeguard yourself against fraud in the future, it is important that you immediately remove the malware from your computer and then change all your passwords. Do this as follows:

  1. Log out of all open sessions in all web browsers on your computer
  2. Remove all cookies and temporary internet files
  3. Then choose one of the following two options:
    - Update the virus scanner on your computer. Then carry out a virus scan on your computer. The malware will be removed. Or:
    - Reset the infected computer to the factory default settings
  4. Then (and only then) change all your passwords. Don’t do this any earlier, as otherwise the cybercriminals will see the new passwords.

How did I fall victim to this?

The virus could have entered your computer in several ways, for example after you downloaded something that contained the virus. There are also fake websites in circulation where cyber criminals lure you to download seemingly legal software. These websites were promoted for example via Google Ads.
