[Update 30/8] Police holds flyer campaign in investigation into injured woman in Eenrum

The investigation into the incident in Eenrum, which took place on Sunday night, August 17th, is ongoing. The woman is currently hospitalized, and police have not yet been able to speak with her.

Previous appeals for witnesses didn't yield any valuable tips. The police suspects there are people who have relevant information but haven't shared it with the police. Therefore, flyers will be distributed in Eenrum on Saturday, August 30th, and also at the grass track event in Uithuizen, where several people who were also in Eenrum on the weekend of August 17th may be present. Who knows more?

• Do you know where the woman was between 3:00 and 4:00 AM, and possibly with whom? Did you see her talking to others? Or did you possibly see her at the campsite on Aagtsweg? If you have any photos or videos of the campsite during that period, we'd also like to hear from you. Every piece of information, no matter how small, could be important. She has long dark hair, is 1.67 meters tall, speaks English, and is wearing a tongue piercing and a nose ring. She was wearing a gray hooded sweater, a white T-shirt with a black print, and brown ankle boots.
• Camera footage shows two vehicles driving on Burgemeester Wiersumstraat around 4:00 AM. It's possible it's the same vehicle, but that's not yet clear. If you are the driver, or if you know who the driver is, please let us know.
• Camera footage also shows a van driving at the intersection of Aagtsweg and Raadhuisstraat around that time. Do you recognize it, do you know who the driver is, and/or did you see it driving somewhere on Sunday, August 17th, between 3:00 and 4:30 AM? The police would also like to hear from you.
• We know that shortly after the discovery, a group of young people, some of whom were on bicycles, were standing near the doctor's office at the intersection of Raadhuisstraat and Burgemeester Wiersumstraat. They may have seen the woman, one of the vehicles, or something else of significance. We would like to speak with them.

[Update 24/8]

The police have not yet been able to talk to the woman because of her injuries. It is still not clear how the woman received the injuries. Several witnesses have been interviewed and camera footage examined.

These interviews and images prompted the police to look for witnesses who we have not yet spoken to and who possibly have information that could be of interest for the investigation. We are specifically looking for witnesses who may have seen the victim at the fair, in the village or the camp site along Aagtsweg. Every single piece of information – no matter how small it seems – can be important.

Car(s)

On camera footage we can see two vehicles moving along Burgemeester Wiersumstraat at around 04.00 am.  It might be the same vehicle in the pictures but that is not clear yet. This is very close to the time the woman was found so, of course, we would like to be in contact with the driver or drivers. If you were the driver, or know who the driver is, please contact us.

Witnesses have reported that a number of people were seen having an argument close to Burg. Wiersumstraat in Eenrum between 03:30 am and 04:00 am. This would have been close to the crossing with Dominee Uilkensstraat. We would also like to be in contact with them because they may have seen or heard something that can be important for the investigation.

On Sunday, 17 August, a 33-year-old woman from England was found seriously injured on Burg. Wierumstraat in Eenrum at around 4 am. Medical assistance was called to the scene and the woman was rushed to hospital.  The police immediately started an investigation.

Police is looking for witnesses and camera footage

It is not clear at the moment how the woman was injured and whether another person may have been involved. The woman had been at the fair in Eenrum earlier that evening. She probably walked from the camp site on Aagtsweg towards Burg. Wierumstraat later that evening. The police would like to know the exact movements of the woman and whether she was in contact with any other persons. Have you seen the woman near Burg. Wiersumstraat or spoken to her? Have you seen any other persons or vehicles in that street around that time? Or do you have any other information that might shed more light on what exactly happened? Then the police would like to be in contact with you. If you also have camera footage of that area, the police would also like to be in contact with you.
