Unknown woman found in Wassenaar identified after 21 years
Wassenaar - After more than 21 years, a deceased woman whose identity had so far been unknown was finally identified. The woman in question is Eva Maria Pommer from Germany, who was 35 years old when she died. She was found on 4 July 2004 in the dunes near Wassenaar (the Netherlands) and was finally given her name back. Eva Maria Pommer is the fourth woman who could be identified thanks to the Identify Me campaign. Stichting Coldcasezaken, a private foundation that aims to solve cold cases, played an important role in discovering her identity. The golden tip-off came in through this foundation.

Police Commissioner: preparation, collaboration and professionalism have paid off
The Hague - Police Commissioner Janny Knol and the Commander of the National Crisis Team of the Netherlands Police, Willem Woelders, look back on a NATO Summit that was highly successful from a police perspective. ‘Thanks to our thorough preparations, our close collaboration with national and international partners, and the professional drive of our personnel, we have succeeded in ensuring that the Summit proceeded safely and without interruption.’

NATO Summit 2025 (timeline)
Nederland - The NATO Summit of 24 and 25 June 2025 is the largest logistics and security operation the Netherlands has ever seen. Together with our security partners and other organisations, the Netherlands Police are responsible for ensuring that the NATO Summit proceeds safely and without disruption. While the Summit does involve regular police work, it is a truly unique event in terms of its magnitude and nature as well as the deployment required. Below you will find more information on deployment of the police during the NATO Summit by their various units and from different areas of expertise.

All basic police services performed during NATO Summit
The Netherlands - Many of the delegation members and heads of state and government who attended the NATO Summit in The Hague will leave the Netherlands in the course of Wednesday evening. ‘Then most of our duties will have been completed’, says Willem Woelders, Central Commander of the NATO Summit National Large-Scale Special Operations Unit. ‘The police deployment required for the NATO Summit had a large impact on police capacity elsewhere in the country. Where necessary, police professionals provided assistance to colleagues from other police units today. This ensured that throughout the country all basic police services were performed. I would like to give a huge compliment to all of our police professionals.’

NATO Summit – delegations escorted successfully
The Netherlands - The vast majority of the delegation members attending the NATO Summit arrived in the Netherlands on Tuesday evening. These delegation members were escorted in motorcades by dozens of police officers, in cooperation with the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee. In total hundreds of journeys were made. The situation in and around The Hague, and in the rest of the country, remained relatively calm.

Quiet run-up to the NATO Summit
The Netherlands - The Hague and its surrounding areas are turning blue: police officers are visually present at locations in and around the city. On Monday, several delegations were escorted to their hotels. Willem Woelders, Commander of the National Crisis Team of the Netherlands Police, says: ‘Everything went according to plan today. Our preparations paid off, and we’re happy with how it all went.’

Unbekannte Frau Wassenaar nach 21 Jahren identifiziert
Wassenaar - Nach über 21 Jahren wurde eine unbekannte tote Frau identifiziert. Es handelt sich offenbar um die damals 35 Jahre alte Eva Maria Pommer aus Deutschland. Sie wurde am 4. Juli 2004 in den Dünen bei Wassenaar aufgefunden und hat nun endlich einen Namen. Dank der Identify-Me-Kampagne ist Eva Maria Pommer die vierte Frau, der ihr Name zurückgegeben wurde. In der Auflösung spielt die niederländische, private Stiftung Coldcasezaken [Cold-Case-Fälle] eine wesentliche Rolle. Der goldene Tipp erreichte uns über diese Stiftung.

Key service for malware developers taken offline
Driebergen - This week, in a coordinated international operation with the US and Finnish authorities, the High Tech Crime Team of the Netherlands Police’s National Investigations and Special Operations took down a key service for malware developers. The operation was supervised by the National Public Prosecutors' Office and its objective was to make it more difficult for cybercriminals to carry out malware attacks.

Fatal shooting Rijswijk
Rijswijk - The police call for witnesses of a fatal shooting that took place on Thursday, 1 May in Rijswijk, the Netherlands. Around 5.45 p.m., a shooting took place outside a hotel at Van Vredenburchweg in Rijswijk. The victim, a 41-year-old Turkish man, died at the scene.
Another suspect in custody in investigation into theft from Drents Museum
Assen - The police have arrested a fifth suspect in the investigation into the theft from the Drents Museum in Assen. The 36-year-old man was arrested in a residence in Alkmaar. The stolen golden treasures have not yet been found.
Fourth suspect arrested in investigation into theft from Drents Museum
Obdam - The police have arrested a 26-year-old man from Heerhugowaard in Obdam. He is suspected to have been involved in the theft of archaeological artifacts from the Drents Museum in Assen on Saturday 25 January. The police had already arrested three other suspects, all of whom are still in custody. The stolen Romanian treasures have not been found yet.
Police assume connection between explosions at Rode Kruis Ziekenhuis hospital in Beverwijk
Beverwijk - The police assume a connection between three explosions at Rode Kruis Ziekenhuis hospital, at Vondellaan in Beverwijk, the Netherlands. On 25 and 26 November 2024, two explosives were detonated, while the hospital was targeted again on 12 January 2025. The investigation into the explosions is still ongoing, and investigators assume that they were carried out by order of a single commissioning party. The police would like to get into contact with people who can provide any information.
Investigation into death of William Caceres Marcano, police seek witnesses
Zaandam - William Caceres Marcano was found dead in a residence on the Hogendijk in Zaandam on the night of Sunday, January 19, to Monday, January 20, 2025. The police believes that William Caceres Marcano died as a result of a crime. The investigators would like to get in touch with people who saw or spoke to him between Friday night, January 17, and Saturday, January 18.
Burglary following explosion at Drents Museum in Assen
Assen - At approximately 03:45 AM, the Dutch police received a report of an explosion at the Drents Museum on the Brink in Assen. Upon arrival, it became clear that access to the building had been gained by forcing a door with explosives. Several valuable archaeological artifacts were stolen from the premises, including the golden helmet of Cotofenesti.
Millions in cash intercepted by police on Dutch roads
Driebergen - Banknotes in shopping bags and suitcases filled with wads of cash, hidden in secret compartments or simply placed on the back seat. These are regular finds for police officers who perform vehicle inspections on Dutch roads. The money is often used for money laundering purposes or in criminal transactions. The Flexible Intervention Team (FIT) of National Intelligence, Expertise and Operational Support intercepted more than 8 million euros in cash last year, and a total of almost 50 million euros in the past five years.

Amsterdam - Starting on 9 November, the Amsterdam police is about to make an ultimate attempt to find out who killed 19-year-old sex worker Bernadett ‘Betty’ Szabó in 2009. In an extensive week-long campaign in the Amsterdam Red Light District, various methods will be deployed to draw the public’s attention to this young woman’s tragic death. The most eye-catching of these is a hologram based on Betty’s looks which is behind a window and asks passers-by to help solve the case.
More clarity about the fate of Angelique Hendrix 30 years after she went missing
Stein - More than thirty years after Angelique Hendrix from Stein disappeared, new information has come up in this long-running missing person’s case. A recent match with a DNA profile stored in the Belgian DNA database has proven that Angelique is no longer alive. The Public Prosecution Service offers a reward of EUR 30,000 for the tip-off or information that solves this case.

International appeal for the identification of 46 deceased women
The Netherlands - On Tuesday 8 October, police forces in six countries, including the Netherlands, together with INTERPOL, will launch a new campaign to establish the identity of unknown deceased women. Most of them died as a result of violence or under suspicious circumstances. Two more cases have been added to the nine Dutch cases included in the first campaign. In May 2023, the first edition of Identify Me yielded about 1,800 tips offs and resulted in an identification in a 30-year-old murder case. The hope is that thanks to this new international public appeal, more women will be given back their names.

Police use Google Ads to combat cybercrime
Nederland - Finding information on the internet about executing a DDoS (distributed denial of service) attack and other forms of cybercrime is child's play. A simple Google search can reveal ways to carry out a DDoS attack. Law enforcement invests a lot to prevent young people from engaging in cybercrime. Who witnessed an assault at the Ronak Mela-festival?
Amsterdam - Sunday, the 20th of August, should have been a fun day for a 52 year-old man from Amsterdam. Together with friends and family he attends an event, located at the Sloterpark in Amsterdam Nieuw-West. Unfortunately, he encountered a group of six violent men, who choose to threaten and abuse him physically. Police officers are investigating this violent incident and would like to get in touch with other visitors who may have witnessed this assault.
