Skeletal remains found in Roggebotsebos Dronten
Skeletal remains were discovered in the Roggebotsebos forest on Monday, August 10 2026. Examination by the Netherlands Forensic Institute (NFI) has determined that the remains belong to a male. The man's identity is not yet known. Do you have an idea who he could be?
- Height: about 1.85 meter
- Hair: short dark
- Facial hair: dark beard and mustache
- Teeth: medical intervention has taken place, including 2 root canal treatments
- Particularities: had a pendant of a leather cross
Investigators have compiled a possible description of the man. We are still investigating the cause and circumstances of his death, as well as approximately how old he was. The NFI's initial estimate is that the victim lay in the ground for at least one and a half to six years. However, further investigation is still being conducted into this.
Necklace pendant
A distinctive necklace pendant was found with the man. It is a leather cross, approximately 2 by 3 cm in size. It is a symbol in the Orthodox Church and is found in several countries. We do not need to know where the cross can be purchased, but we hope that someone might recognize the victim because of this piece of jewelry.
