Appeal for witnesses
Violent robbery - Reidingpark - Drachten
Do you have information about a violent robbery that took place in the centre of Drachten during the night of Saturday 4 July to Sunday 5 July 2026, between 2:30 a.m. and 5:00 a.m.? We are looking for witnesses, including a man and a woman who were seen cycling away together on a single bicycle from the area near the public library at around 3:00 a.m.
Update august 2026:
The police investigation into the violent robbery in which 22-year-old Kostiantyn from Drachten became the victim is continuing. Kostiantyn was later found deceased in the water at Reidingpark in Drachten. Detectives are also continuing to investigate the circumstances in which he entered the water.
Since the previous witness appeals and the witness canvass conducted near Reidingpark, the police have received information and tips. However, not all questions surrounding the investigation have yet been answered. For example, it is still unclear how Kostiantyn ended up in the water. That is why the police are once again making an urgent appeal to anyone who may have relevant information.
Were you in or around the centre of Drachten during the night of Saturday 4 July to Sunday 5 July, between 2:30 a.m. and 5:00 a.m.? Did you see or hear anything? Do you have CCTV, doorbell camera or dashcam footage? Or do you recognise yourself or someone else as one of the witnesses the police are still hoping to speak with? Even if you are unsure whether your information is relevant, we encourage you to contact us. Even the smallest detail could prove valuable to the investigation.
